Ensuring safety in sports involves creating a secure environment for both children and adults to participate in sports and physical activities, protecting them from potential harm. Essential to child protection is promoting the idea of ensuring the safety of children and fostering a culture that consistently prioritises the well-being of all children. Establishing procedures and systems for safeguarding is vital.
Safeguarding matters often take place in three stages; (i) disclosure, (ii) investigations, and (iii) hearings before independent first instance (and potentially appeal) panels.
Max has acted in multiple cases where harassment has been alleged in the Employment Tribunal. He has also defended professionals facing regulatory intervention as a result of safeguarding reports and has acted for regulators and defendants in cases of sexual misconduct. He is a member of the Sport Resolutions Safeguarding Case Management Programme which provides case management assistance to National Governing Bodies in relation to safeguarding matters.
Max is able to accept instructions in relation to athlete safeguarding and more broadly in matters relating to safeguarding in sports.
